Movie Trailer Voice, Don LaFontaine, Dies at 68
Written by: JohnVoiceover Master Don LaFontaine has died at age 68. One friend described the loss perfectly when she told me, “Movie trailers won’t be the same without Don’s voice.” Don passed away following complications from Pneumothorax.
Here’s a short look into Don LaFontaine’s storied career doing voice overs.
Tags: Don LaFontaine • VoiceoversOver the past 25 years, LaFontaine cemented his position as the “King of Voiceovers.” Aside from being the preeminent voice in the movie trailer industry, Don also worked as the voice of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, as well as for CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and UPN, in addition to TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. By conservative estimates, he voiced hundreds of thousands of television and radio spots, including commercials for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonalds, Coke, and many other corporate sponsors.
He recently parodied himself on a series of national television commercials for Geico. At last count, he has worked on nearly 5000 films, including appearances as the in-show announcer for the Screen Actors Guild and Academy Awards. Based on contracts signed, he has the distinction of being perhaps the single busiest actor in the history of SAG. Don is survived by his wife — singer/actress Nita Whitaker, and three children: Christine, Skye and Elyse.

Jason Mesnick To Be The Next Bachelor Come January 2009
Written by: JohnET online reported the following:
ET breaks the news that Jason Mesnick, 32, will be the next star of “The Bachelor” coming to ABC in January 2009.
Female fans crumbled after he dropped to one knee, proposed marriage and got turned down on the season finale of the latest installment of ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” But now he’ll have another shot at finding true love!
Mesnick, the single dad and Seattle-based account executive, will have another shot at finding love while dating 25 hopeful contestants.
Mesnick is a sports enthusiast who is looking for women with a passion for life.
This is an interesting piece of news since Jason Mesnick was so sad to be away from his son. I wonder if the Bachelor will allow him to bring his son with him to stay with him at night and just have a nanny watch the kid while he goes on his dates. Seems reasonable to me.
It should be interesting to see if Jason Mesnick has the appeal of other bachelors. He’s such a soft spoken guy that will have to see if Jason as Bachelor will make good television or not.

High School Musical Get in the Picture Episode 9 Music
Written by: JohnAs I’ve done in the past, I’ve tried to list all the High School Musical: Get in the picture music for those interested in the show. Here’s the whole list of HSM: Get in the Picture music.
TV theme songs was the theme for this show’s performance and the following are the theme songs they used:
Mary Tyler Moore theme song
![]()
Greatest American Hero theme song
![]()
Cheers theme song
![]()
One Day at a Time theme song
![]()
A quick thought about the show. I’m really sad to see TJ get sent to the chorus. I can see why they did it, but I also think he wasn’t really given a chance to shine. I’m sure that James Wolpert is going to be going to the chorus soon too, because he just is too awkward to win this competition.
I also love the absolutely typical high school girls Bailey Purvis and Shayna Goldstein. It makes me glad I’m not in high school anymore, but they take me back to the high school drama that I had long forgotten.
Finally, Christina Brown’s voice is just absolutely wonderful to hear and Tierney Chamberlain really does need to open up. Well, she doesn’t have to if she doesn’t want to, but she needs to if she wants to win. That’s up to her.

Written by: JohnI must admit that I don’t usually write about Gossip Girl (although I’d love to find someone else to write about it), but I’m always interested when a popular show like Gossip Girl has a script leaked after reading about the way JJ Abrams is keeping the Fringe script secret. Thanks to Gawker Media for posting scans of the leaked script. Here’s the basic gist of what was found in the script:
And what do the selected pages reveal? Mostly the tortured (and torturous) relationship between sad young literary man Brooklyn Dan and his crusty old mentor, Noah Shapiro. Amusingly, the Shapiro character is introduced by Jay McInerney, in a cameo role, who was once a sad young New York literary fellow himself. His 1984 novel Bright Lights, Big City was a smash hit about “you” (the novel was written entirely in the second person) young ambitious writerly types in the big bad city. It’s all come full circle!
Looks like this excerpt comes from the fifth episode of the second season of Gossip Girl.

Hilarious Clip of Don Cheadle and Guillermo on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Written by: JohnDon Cheadle was on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Cheadle and Guillermo spoofed his international suspense thriller with a short parody of behind-the-scenes footage for Traitor. In true Jimmy Kimmel fashion, this video gets better and better as the parody goes on.
Guillermo is my hero. I hope that he gets paid well.
