Ethical Banking Website
Written by: JohnI don’t know if any of you have heard about Ethical Banking, but I hadn’t until recently. If I’m understanding this correctly, Ethical Banking is where a bank has to follow an Ethical Policy for all of the investments that a bank makes. Maybe I’m understanding this wrong, but I’m not understanding how this is really any different from any legitimate bank.
The site isn’t very well done. It looks like something that came out of the 90’s. Plus, they have way too many words on the site. I see a page FULL of text and I automatically turn it off. I need a list of the important bullet points with links to more information if I want it. The fact is that I probably don’t care about 3/4 of the information on there so give me the gist and access to the other information I think might be important.
I also got lost in the navigation of the site. The entire top bar linked to things I either didn’t care about or something that I don’t have access to. Those things should all be at the bottom. Except for the account logins which would be useful if I had an account.
The links are also not well done on the sidebar, because when I was on the ethical policy page I had to go back to the home page to get more information on the products the bank offers. From any page I should be able to easily have access to the product pages. If you want me to buy your product then I need to ALWAYS be able to find it.
Oh well, I could barely get past the logistics of the site. Would I trust sending my money to them?
It looks like they have Ethical Insurance also. That portion of the website was much better, but I was so turned off by the first that I couldn’t look anymore.![]()
