Economic Crisis Requires More Fundraising

The news is all over the place that the economic crisis that were experiencing is starting to hit high school athletics and other organizations. Does this mean that sports teams are going to stop playing? In some cases, this might be the case, but my guess is that in most cases sports teams are just going to have to be more creative in how they approach funding their favorite sport. A well executed sports fundraiser will be key to the success of much of the amateur and in particular high school sports world.

This is nothing new for those of you who have played in “lesser” sports like hockey or rugby. You’ve been having to fundraise forever with little or no help from the schools itself. In fact, many of them aren’t even recognized by the school (which is why I call them lesser). The crazy part is that we’re heading into a time when all high school sports are going to have to start raising their own money to play. Kind of crazy to think about, but it’s just the reality of the times. Raise money or stop playing. I think we can all agree that stopping play is probably the worst thing that could happen.
