Yesterday was one of those days when nothing went according to planned. That also means nothing much got accomplished. We were busy all day long just not busy at my never ending to do list.
In the evening we had the missionaries over for dinner. After the morning/afternoon I had I almost decided not to make dinner and just have John bring home pizza. However, in the end we were able to put together Hawaiian Haystacks. They were yummy. And Curtis and I were also able to make a dessert. (You can’t have the missionaries over and not have dessert). I had told Curtis earlier that we were going to make a dessert and there is no talking a 4 year old out of that.
So we made a new yummy recipe that I found in a cookbook my mother-in-law gave me that her ward compiled. I don’t think they mind if I share the wonderful recipe. So if you want the recipe go to our recipe site and type in recipe for the user name and ilovekristine for the password (I did not make up that password). Then you can search for Apple Coffee Cake-the correct version. (the first time I added it I forget to add an ingredient). I opted to not make the drizzle that is called for but made homemade whip cream. It was yummy yummy. We had it for breakfast too.
Here is some yummy pictures to convert you. Curtis also added sprinkles to his. He thinks all cake needs them.
\

ps don’t you love how Curtis’s face is already dirty and he hasn’t had any breakfast yet? I think someone snuck into the halloween candy bowl while the rest of us are were still snug as a bug in a rug.

Last week Curtis participated in his very first Primary Program at church. I wasn’t sure if he would actually go up and sing and say his line but he did. The day before I took him to practice and as he walking to the front with his class I got teary eyed. All of a sudden my little baby boy is no longer a baby. I felt like I was watching him walk in his high school graduation and he isn’t even in kindergarten yet. It was bitter-sweet.
When I got the program agenda thing on Sunday they had a picture of all the primary kids on the cover and I was amazed at how little Curtis was in the picture. He looked like a little baby. And then I looked at him sitting up on the stand and he was no longer little. He was big. He had grown a ton. Not only physically but spiritually and academically. He really is growing up right before my eyes.

For Halloween this year Alessia wore Curtis’s old Halloween costume. She was a chicken. It was fun to go back and look at pictures of Curtis and compare the two. Curtis was about three months younger than Alessia was when he wore the chicken costume. Can you guess who is who in the following pictures?

This year Curtis was a soccer player. He doesn’t really like dress up. I wish he liked it more. However, it was nice to be able to get to use all his soccer gear that we payed for.
This year we went Trick or Treating at an outdoor chopping center/casino near our house and then stopped and had some delicious Italian Pizza. When we got home Curtis was so excited to get to hand out candy to people who stopped by our house. I think this was actually his favorite part about Halloween.

We hope you all had a great Halloween. It is always sad to see it go. However, I was happy to go to the store today and see bags of candy (I did not need) on sale for 74 cents. I couldn’t pass it up. I also got a few princess costumes for $5 since they were on sale. I love the after the holiday sales. I did find it a little strange to see all the Christmas stuff up. What about Thanksgiving? Pretty soon stores will start selling Christmas right after the 4th of July.

Since I just posted a card that Curtis made for my mom I thought I would post about his other Grandma.
She dropped everything on her schedule at last minute notice and came and watched our two little monkeys for us last week.
Not only did she keep them safe and healthy she entertained them. Curtis has so many cool crafts taped up around the house that he and Grandma did together. Every day he talks about all the fun he had with her. Grandma even taught him how to use scissors. Something I was dreading doing. He is a pro now.
I swear John and I just look at each other and marvel at how much smarter he is from before we left for Hawaii a week ago until now. Grandma sure did teach him a ton of stuff.
Thanks again Grandma for coming to take care of and love our little ones for us while we were gone. I know the kids loved the special one on one time they got to have with you. We wish you could have stayed longer so John and I could have seen more of you too. We love ya.

A few okay many Sundays ago, Curtis wrote a letter to his Grammy (my mom). He did this with his dad. When I asked him what it said he opened it up and showed me and then read, “I Love Curtis”. It was funny. It really said, “to Grammy from Curtis. i love you”. Of course I never sent the card and it is now lost. Good thing I got pictures of it. So here Grammy, enjoy these pictures of a card Curtis made for you.

Curtis had another soccer game Saturday. He is getting much better. He doesn’t whine and come off the field any more. He still isn’t the greatest on offense but he does well on defense. The coach even let him be in goal for the first half. He did so well. He stopped about 5 goals and then the last one got by him and they took him out of goal. I was so proud of my little boy. It is amazing how worked up I can get over 4 year old soccer. John laughs at me for being so crazy at Curtis’s games.
Here is my favorite picture from his game. This was taken just as he caught the ball. I love his face.

Alessia wants to be grown up. She tries to do everything we do. I now know I need to close the bathroom door when I use it because she watches everything and then tries it.
Friday I caught her twice in the bathroom. She had her diaper off, was sitting on the toilet and trying to insert a tampon. No lie. I about died. I debated for a second if I should take a picture for proof but then decided that was just plain wrong.
What am I going to do with this girl as she gets older and more capable of causing more trouble?

We made it to Hawaii. Flying without kids is so nice. You don’t have to bring so much luggage and equipment. Although I should have thought to pack snacks. The flight here to Hawaii was nice. We watched free movies and slept. I could get use to flying without kids.
I must admit I miss my kids. When I see something they would like I miss them more. However, it is nice to be on vacation without them.
We are actually here for business. I thought when John was in his meetings I would get to play on the beach. But I actually have to attend half the meetings with him. I can’t complain, they paid for my ticket to come so I will do whatever they say.
We got here on Saturday and tried to go to our favorite Italian restaurant. However, it opens only in the evening and we got there an hour too early. So instead of Ricotta stuffed chicken we got Taco Bell.
Coming back to where we lived for two years is crazy. It feels like we haven’t been gone so long. As we drive along Kam Hightway and the neighborhoods all the memories of our time here come back. We were able to attend out old ward, Haula 1st yesterday. It was fun to see so many familiar faces, names were forgotten but everyone greeted us with such love. We really did love out ward and the people we came to know there in Haula.
After church we went to visit John’s old boss, Cindy and we ended up staying for three hours and eating the most delicious dinner. I was so full by the time we left that I thought I would have to be rolled out.
Today we have spent in meetings and it will continue like this until tomorrow night. Maybe then I can pull out the camera and actually takes so pictures of the beautiful north shore.
The kids seem to be doing well with Grandma. I don’t think they miss us. We really appreciate John’s mom for sacrificing so much to take care of Curtis and Alessia. They have tons of energy and need constant attention and she seems to do a good job at meeting all their needs.
Now I am off to another meeting.

Tomorrow John and I leave for Hawaii. Can you believe it? I can’t. I talked to a good friend from Hawaii today and it made me even more excited to go there.
We will be living it up on the North Shore for 5 days. (On the Island of Oahu). I will be enjoying Ted’s Bakery, The Polynesian Cultural Center, the beach, L&L’s, shaved ice and alone time with my husband.
Grandma Lynn arrives tonight to take care of our little ones. Curtis is beyond excited. Alessia is going to be in for a shock tomorrow when she gets up and Grandma is here and Mom and Dad are not.
See you in a few days. Hopefully with lots of fun pictures to share.
