LDS Church Buys Facebook - According to the Rumor Mill

Today I came across one of the most funny LDS Church rumors that I have seen in a long time. You’d think that the rumor that the LDS Church owns Coca-cola would be enough. Nope. Today, a very reputable source Venture Beat, just lost some of its credibility when it posted that the LDS Church was trying to buy Facebook.

I still can’t stop laughing just thinking about the idea. Can you imagine? Facebook started as a college network that represented partying, drinking and all sorts of college like behavior. I’m pretty sure that was the church’s motivation. They wanted to represent those high ideals.

By the way, if you’re on Facebook, you can add me to your friends here.

On a different note, what do people know about Greenville, SC?

If we find the right job, then we’ll move. If we don’t, then we won’t. Do you have the right job for us?

That is too funny! And since we’re on the topic of Mormon myths, maybe someone can clear one up for me: Is the actor Aaron Eckhart LDS or not?

    Lisa,
I’ll put Aaron Eckhart in the rumor mill. The best site for famous mormons is famousmormons.net They do a pretty good job getting most of the famous mormons.

I don’t see Aaron Eckhart listed on their famous mormon actors, producers and directors page.

WHAT?!?!? Are you telling me that the Church does NOT own Facebook? OH NOES!!!! I never would have put my profile on there unless I thought it was a church-sponsored organization! Drat. Now I’ll have to cut “I believe Facebook is true” out of my testimony and delete my profile before I am thrust down to hell!

South Carolina a job possibility, then?

    Wynne,
I miss you. You always make me laugh. When are you going to move back close by us?

Yes, South Carolina is currently on the list. I’ve heard good things about Greenville. Now I’ll get to see real soon.

    That can’t be real!

Congrats on losing weight - maybe I should join your club - I recently lost 10.4 lbs and 10 inches but I have more to go!

BTW - Laura Hanson commented on my blog but she’s never invited me to her private blog and I don’t have her e-mail address. Would you mind asking her to invite me (my address is nettiehansen@gmail.com.)

I hear about that rumor and it made me laugh too. It is just so far beyond true.

Oh, and I think that yes, once upon a time Aaron Ekhart was LDS. He went to BYU and Chad’s cousin went to school with him and knew him too. He also served a mission in France/Swtizerland. But yeah, not so much a member today. (You can look on wikipedia too but we all know that not everything there is fact)
