Robin Hood Fund Gets a Webby Award
I found out today that Robin Hood Fund just received an Official Honoree in the Activism category of the Webby Awards. I think it’s great that the website is getting awards. I of course think it’s a great site not just because I had a wish granted for a trip to Hawaii, but also because it’s a terribly fun and viral concept. It’s going to be a lot of fun to see what happens with the website next. It’s definitely got a thriving community that grows organically. I’m glad to be apart of the site.

My Robin Hood Fund Wish Was Granted
I made a wish on Robin Hood Fund for my wife and son to have return trip to Hawaii. I was lucky because my wish was granted.
Today I got my check from the Robin Hood Fund and I made a little video:
Well, Robin Hood Fund is a great example of crowdsourcing. One of the main reasons is because people like myself can contribute to the project. I made the captcha that Robin Hood Fund uses during registration. I also helped out with the creation of their Google mashup of wishes and users locations.
However, Robin Hood Fund is also an interesting idea in letting the crowd decide who deserves a wish. There have been a number of really interesting wishes granted. Hagrid just won a light box to beat the winter blues. I’m also excited to see what $10,000 will be able to accomplish for Jeff to build an orphanage in Mozambique. Pretty cool projects.
It’s also pretty neat that the website lets people directly donate to wishes that they find worthy. I personally liked the wish that Blu and Wendy made and so I made a small donation to their wish to help support a mission trip to Nepal and India. The other cool part is that they are now in the lead to win their wish for Provisions for the Nepalese People during our Trip.
Now I just got to think what my next wish should be. Maybe Italy?
