Summer Hiatus and BYU Football Recruiting
Written by: CrashUtahAs you can see from the dates on my posts I haven’t been posting much recently. I have been watching out of the corner of my eye the action in BYU football recruiting. I use to think it was quite fun to watch all the details of the recruiting process. However, when you see the hype about every player you realize that you could say good things about every player or they wouldn’t be playing in college football. That gets boring to me over time. I still read about college football recruiting because the idea of being able to see something others don’t see intrigues me.
Despite not much BYU sports going on, I am interested in the way that Bronco has been recruiting. One of the latest articles talks about 2 more recruits that have committed to the BYU football team and Bronco Mendenhall. That brings the total to 17 recruits committed already. That seems really early considering what other talent could finally come forth in their senior year. Bronco’s taking a calculated risk. However, if he doesn’t get more wins the next couple years then he may not see if his recruiting method works. Does Bronco Mendenhall look like the future Lavell Edwards of BYU football? Can you see Bronco roaming the sidelines of BYU in 20 years. I guess it’s possible, but right now I just can’t see that happening. I think the age of dynasty coaches is gone.
