Is there anything better than Spring Football?
Written by: CrashUtahI haven’t had too much time to post to my BYU blog much lately, but don’t think that I’m not following all that’s happening with BYU sports. I love spring practice almost more than the season. It is a great time with great expectations about the coming season. It is amazing how much hype can be built up during spring football. If teams were judged by potential at spring football then we’d have a lot of national champions. One wouldn’t be enough.
Things I really liked:
Linebackers - Talk about depth
Running Backs - I’m glad Curtis is finally getting the nod. Manase Tonga, Ray Hudson, Wayne Latu are going to be heard in a few years. Does anyone remember Latu(possibly third on the depth chart) running at the UNLV game last year? He looked good. At least we don’t have to worry about injuries nearly as much at this position
Special Teams - At least our kicking has experience this year.
Things that worry me:
Quarterback - Can John Beck really break it out? Who is going to step up if injury plagues us again?
Lines - Injuries and inexperience? Yes, it is spring
Secondary - This should be on the list every year. Has BYU ever had a cornerback make it to the NFL?

Tim McTyer (95-96) played for the Browns, 49ers, and Eagles
