Mendenhall As Defensive Coordinator and Head Coach

There has been a lot of discussion about Bronco Mendenhall being his own defensive coordinator. I must admit that I think that it might be a good idea if he can find someone in his mold. However, I’m really not sure that’s going to be possible this year. Possibly a couple years down the road he could build that kind of person. I still thought he should until tonight when I had an epiphany during the National Championship game with USC and Texas. USC won how many games in a row with a head coach as the defensive coordinator? Enough said! I guess it depends on the defense and more importantly how Bronco handles his defensive coordinator role. I don’t know how Pete Carroll is doing it, but whatever he’s doing to manage the 2 roles Bronco should find out and implement it himself.
