Burgess Lost

I agree with a recent article about the loss of Burgess this season. He really is going to leave the cougars without a big man in the middle. I can’t really understand his reason in the middle of the season. Unless there’s some rule I don’t know about(which is very possible) then he is going to lose this year of eligibility anyway. He might as well stay in excellent shape and do his best for the team.

That said, I think if they system doesn’t fit him right then please do whatever’s best for you and yours. Maybe you could just explain to the rest of us why leaving the team helps you in any way. Playing against Div I opponents should be a priceless experience for you regardless of the offense that is being run. At least get in there and practice your defense. It’s not going to get any better sitting at home.

I think the point with Burgess is a little bit more complicated than that. I think his understanding was that he was going to be in a ball control offense with a premium on post play, but when Rose took over he realized that his roll was going to be limited. I also think with the emergence of Trent Plaisted, he saw that his playing time was going to be limited even further. To be honest, I am surprised that Austin Ainge hasn’t thought about doing the same thing. I also have a feeling that Burgess already had something in mind, because, like you, the timing is extremely odd. Just my opinion.

Interesting Thought on Ainge. I’m not sure he could change schools. He might be excommunicated if he did something like that. Reminds me of the movie Rudy where the guy couldn’t leave Notre Dame football because all his family had gone there.

That said, I still say he should do whatever’s best for him, but at least wait until the end of the season where we can free your scholarship up for another player.

The scholarship point is a valid one, but I’m unsure that Burgess is the one to care about that especially if he wants to attend a different university for academic reasons as well in which case the end of semester seems appropriate. As for Ainge, you are right. He would be ex-ed for sure. Of course, last year when his turnovers were astronomical there might have been better cause. LOL

Academic reasons? I didn’t read that. What Div I school is going to take him now that has a better acedemia than BYU? No way!!

Ainge was disfellowshipped last year for the turnovers right? Or maybe his Bishop stopped watching because BYU sucked all around.
