One player who was excused from drills for the next four days is all-conference running back candidate Curtis Brown, who will marry Kim Dabo on Saturday in the Provo LDS Temple. Brown has been told he’s expected to report back to camp Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Source

Curtis Brown got 4 days off of practices due to marriage. I can’t believe a football player gets 4 days off for marriage. It only takes about an hour in the temple to get married. Not to mention, can’t they schedule the marriage around football. More importantly, Curtis, get back to practice so we can get some better quotes from players.

I will say that this has to be one of the best ends to a story. If I’m not mistaken, Curtis decided to join the church while at BYU and now he’s getting married in the temple. There’s something pretty special about that.

Let’s hope his wife doesn’t mess with his running skills.

Now that this season is over it is time for Bronco Mendenhall to start taking credit(or blame) for what happens to the BYU football program. It is nice as a rookie in college football to be able to enjoy a few standard excuses like “I didn’t recruit these players” and “I’m still getting use to this head coach role.” I think it is even a greater burden because of the LDS speaking engagements that are required at firesides and other LDS events. The funny part is that I don’t think Bronco really even likes most of those things. I digress!!

Crowton’s gone and Bronco’s no longer a rookie football coach. Let’s see what he does with accountability now. I like the way he’s playing the religion card and recruiting players using the unique aspects of the LDS church and BYU. Whether that helps or hurts recruiting is still to be seen. At least it should leave every recruit with a lasting impression about BYU that they can share with other teamates should they decide to go to other schools. If nothing else was accomplished by Bronco, I think the LDS leadership of BYU will be grateful and proud.

I think Bronco is going to fair very well. He’s taken all the media hooplah very well and always represented BYU in the best way possible. In fact, I can’t ever remember him dishing any blame on Crowton. That’s not his jobs, it’s the medias. Now not even the media can protect him.

Go Cougars.

I was reading an article about Cal football before the Las Vegas bowl and it said that the coaches at Cal were putting in 19-hour days throughout the year to prepare their football game. That is just amazing to me. I hope these men aren’t married, because I pity their wives. Last night I was watching the making of 1 minute of Star Wars Episode III and it made me so grateful of the work that I do. You could tell they were working long long hours and working on super complex tasks. I’m sure they get paid well, but I wonder what they’re doing to their family.

I hope Bronco doesn’t do that. It seems like I recall an article quoting Lavell Edwards where he talked about how he found it important to have a life outside the film room. For all the wifes out there I hope this is the case.

I’ve been really pleased with a new website for BYUTV that allows you to watch the BYU Television feed on the internet. It was fabolous to watch the First Presidency Christmas devotional from home. My only requests is that they start putting BYU games on there. I’d be fine if they even do it a few days later. Living outside of Utah we just don’t get tape on many games(espescially basketball) and it would be nice to see the team on video because it’s a different experience.

I think Patrick is trying to incite mormon’s reading the paper. Well, it worked!

Crashutah.com was originally started as a way to create a “City Search” for Utah County since Citysearch.com was setup to handle only the major cities and didn’t really cover smaller cities like Provo. CrashUtah was from the idea of “Crash a Party” and so the entertainment and events posted would describe Provo’s need to have fun. The idea has worked out well and is one of the best locations to find out about Entertainment and Restaurants in Utah County. Take a look at the Original CrashUtah.

Crashutah.com has now found added meaning when I think about my new love as a BYU alumni. BYU SPORTS!! Crashutah.com now has added meaning anytime a BYU sports team plays that OTHER team to the North(yes, all you Utes now what I mean). In the mind of a BYU Sports fan they always want to win championships and dream of winning more national championships. However, at the end of the season all BYU fans really NEED is to Beat Utah.

Although BYU fans don’t really want to just beat Utah. We want to CRASH UTAH!! Thus, the site is born.

Point of Edicit: Everyone is welcome to post(even Univeristy of Utah fans). However, vulgar language and other things Crash Utah considers innapropriate will not be posted or allowed in any manner on the site. Feel free to argue any direction you think is appropriate, but you can do it without acting like a child. If you can’t express yourself in an appropriate manner you probably shouldn’t try posting here.
