BYU Fight Song For Sale
Written by: JohnThis story had me laughing out loud. I was going to type that I can’t believe someone would be so money hungry to try and sell the BYU fight song. However, it looks like it’s really happening. Here’s the story from KSL:
BYU’s fight song is up for sale. The author of “The Cougar Song” passed the copyright onto his family when he died. Now the family wants to sell the song to a local buyer who will donate it to BYU.
In a written statement the family says, “…if my father intended to donate these copyrights to BYU, he could have done it any time over the 40 years he lived after he copyrighted the song.”
The family did say they will pay a generous fast offering and tithe offering from the proceeds of the sale.
I guess the children of the guy who wrote the song must be Utes.
