Postseason for Both BYU Men’s and Women’s Basketball
Written by: JohnI really can’t believe that BYU even made it to the NIT and had the chance of going to the NCAA tournament. Ok, so that was a long shot, but until they lost in the MWC tournament they were on the bubble. If they make it to the finals I wouldn’t have been surprised if BYU would have made it in the place of Air Force. From being picked last(which is never right) to the NIT is a pretty great thing for BYU.
More importantly is I should herald the fabolous BYU women’s team. I expect to see some good things. It looks like they have a pretty hard bracket ahead of them, but Judkins is one of the best I’ve seen at preparing teams for postseason play. Remember BYU’s win against perennial women’s powerhouse Tennessee?
Let’s hope we can now take it to the next level and start winning some games in the post season. If BYU men’s team goes to the NIT and just loses that will be a dissappointing season in my book. I guess I should start getting use to it. At least until August when football season and all the anticipation starts all over again.
One of my friends here in Vegas told me that the reason people like slot machines is because the anticipation of what’s going to happen has similar effect as drugs(heroin I believe) on the brain. My wife would argue, what are you trying to antipate? You know they’re going to lose. Ignoring her, maybe next year.

Another Depressing Loss
Written by: JohnBYU just gave the game to Utah in the Mountain West Conference tournament. Trent in foul trouble left us about what you’d expect in the first half. BYU made a great comeback in the second half to even take a decent lead. However, there were so many really stupid mistakes at the end of the game that I don’t think BYU will ever forget. I can’t see this as a building game that they will remember next year. I think if they think back to this game they’ll realize that they just gave the game to Utah. I do have to say that Markson was looking good. He should have just faked and taken threes all game. BYU’s defense on Neville was miserable. The refs weren’t giving any help either. Ok, so I’m upset and angry. An article I read described it best. Now that BYU was on a 6 game win streak anything except the Mountain West Conference tournament champ would be a dissapointment. BYU going out in the first round is pretty much the worse ever.
I guess all I can see is see you next year. Thank goodness the tournament is in vegas next year. Nobody was in the stands in CO. How would it be next year to win the Vegas Bowl and the MWC tournament. Maybe then UNLV should make it’s home games in Boulder city.

BYU Gets 20 Wins – BYU Meets Utah in MWC Tournament
Written by: JohnWhat a great win against New Mexico tonight! It was quite sad to see the women lose, but that’s not so surprising without Ambrosia Anderson playing. 20 wins could never have been expected. If they grab a couple wins in the MWC tournament then we have a good shot at the NCAA tournament. Otherwise, I guess we’ll have to see how BYU does in the NIT. Although, I’m afraid if BYU does make the NCAA tournament it will be mostly a learning experience for the young BYU team. Next year with some experience I could see some potential for success in the tourney.
I’m not sure about the matchup with Utah. That should be a tough rivalry game for BYU to start the tourney. Let’s hope BYU’s young squad can hold it together in a tournament atmosphere which has shown in past years to have a lot of upsets.
I must also apologize to the BYU team for giving up on them when they were 2-3 in the MWC. I’ll be cheering for you in the tourney. I just wish the MWC tournament was in Las Vegas and not in Denver. Next year things will be back to the way it should be.
Congrats BYU on 20 surprising wins!! Dave Rose for MWC Coach of the Year!
