Rose with FIRE!!
Written by: JohnThere was a great article by Dick Harmon in the Deseret News that had this quote:
It is possible to be sportingly good yet competitively nasty.
I’ve always had a problem with people that thought I shouldn’t be so competitive when playing church sports. However, from that same point of view I never understood why some people that played had to be such hot heads. You can be competitive and in your face while still being respectful and not an idiot.
Back to Rose, the way Dick Harmon describes it is perfect. If people start complaining about how fired up he is then I have a problem with that, because each one of us knows that we complained around the water cooler about how we wish BYU athletes(espescially in basketball) had some more fire to them. So, stop being stupid or I’m going to have to knock you around.
A little Stat Check
Written by: JohnHere’s the BYU stats that I just copied from ESPN’s website:

34 David Burgess C 6-10 250 Fr. 3 5.0 0.7 1.7 0.0
This list is hard to look at on this page, but it is ordered by the leading BYU scorers. As I look through the top 5 on the list I don’t see one name I remember well from last year. No wonder we’re doing better.
BYU and Utah Basketball
Written by: JohnAt this point in the season it’s hard to say what’s going to happen when BYU and Utah meet. They both have identical records and neither has really showed signs that they are the better team. So, who’s better? I can’t really say, but I can’t wait until BYU gets to play the Weber State and Utah State. While I hate those games, because they are always close at least it should give us a good idea on how good BYU will do against those dirty Utes!!
Weekend in the MWC
Written by: JohnWhat a horrible weekend in the MWC. The only wins came against horribly inferior opponents. The rest(at least from the scoreboard) look like they were drubbings that aren’t going to do anything for the MWC come March Madness.
The only good thing about this weekend is that it looks like BYU has a good chance to do well come conference play. San Diego State lost to Washington State which is a good sign for Cougar fans even if it’s a bad sign for San Diego State and the MWC.
