First BYU Bowl Game in West in 11 Years
Written by: JohnThat is altogether too long to wait for a bowl game to be held here in the west. I think the MWC finally got things right by getting contracts with bowls in Las Vegas, San Diego and San Francisco. Memphis is probably a wonderful place to live, but not an ideal site for BYU(or 90 % of NCAA football teams) to play a football game. It just doesn’t make sense even if more money is made in the liberty bowl. There has to be very little prestige gained by attending the Liberty Bowl compared to the Las Vegas Bowl. In fact, you might even catch a couple football fanatics at the Las Vegas bowl during the holidays, but not even the most diehard football fan would be in memphis for the holidays and want to go to the liberty bowl.
My apologies go out to all those members of the church in the Memphis area. Sure, you supported BYU nicely and still kept BYU with a good name as far as attendace goes. However, even you would have to agree that playing a game in the sun or the snow is a no brainer.
The only real problem I see now is that half of the Las Vegas mormon community relocates itself to Utah for the holiday season. Let’s hope that the Las Vegas Bowl in Sam Boyd Stadium can still be filled like the BYU vs. UNLV game. By the third quarter of that game the stadium felt like a BYU home game.

BYU Women’s B-Ball
Written by: JohnBYU women’s basketball beat UCLA last night. What a great win for the women’s team. Let’s be honest here. The women’s team in the past couple years has done a fabulous job and beat some big name teams. The problem is…Who really cares?
If my sister reads this post she will get really upset, but I’m being honest when I say that if BYU women’s basketball was on tv I still wouldn’t watch it. It’s the same for the WNBA on tv. I just have to change the channel. I love to go to the games live. It is a nice laid back atmosphere where you can see the sweat and determination. TV just doesn’t do it for me with women’s basketball.
It is important to note that I love to see BYU women’s basketball win. The more winning the better regardless of the sport. Just don’t ask me to watch them on tv.

BYU Loss is SO Depressing
Written by: JohnWhen I was at BYU I thought I understood why BYU had a counseling center and more importantly why it was so busy. I was sure it had to do with the pressure to get married and more importantly misunderstandings by men and women at BYU of the impetus to get married so soon or otherwise there must be something wrong with you. After the crushing overtime disappointment I now figured out the real reason. BYU losing(and even more importantly losing to the Utes) sends BYU fans into an ugly depression.
I’m scheduling my appointment for Monday.
A Little Perspective
Written by: John“As you step outside of football and look at life, when you cross that finish line, I don’t think our Father will care what position we finished or whether we were the fastest or slowest.” -Bronco Mendenhall at Fireside before BYU/Utah Game
I agree. Mostly because I’m nearing the slowest category.
Classless Utes
Written by: steel_cougarJust an observation….Kyle Whittingham has no class and no brains. I quote from the Salt Lake Tribune: ‘The coach doesn’t see much difference between 5-5 or BYU’s 6-4.
“It’s two teams playing that have had mediocre seasons,” Whittingham said. “That’s the bottom line. Six-and-four, 5-5. That’s mediocre on both counts.” ‘
Okay, whatever…..we win and we’re 7-4, after starting the season 1-3. I guess when you’ve been at the top the last couple of years like them, and lost four of your last five, you’re pretty pessimistic about 5-6 or 6-5. We, on the other hand, haven’t had much to be excited about at the end of the season the last few years. But now we’ve won five of the last six, and when you’ve climbed up all the way from the bottom, you’re much closer to the top, so you’re gonna be pretty dang excited about where you’re at.
Look what’s on the line if we win….locking up a bowl berth, a shot at an 8-4 season with this and the LV Bowl, and to top it all off, not only do we beat our hated #$%@^$ rivals to the north, but we shut them out of the postseason. Then they get a better idea of exactly how we’ve felt the last few years when they beat us. Go Cougars!

To All Ute Fans:
Written by: JohnIf (and when) the Utes lose on Saturday, please don’t start complaining and belly aching that you would have won IF you would have just had your starting quarterback. Remember 2 years ago when we met you with our 4th string quarterback and still came away with a close 3-0 loss. If BYU can only put up 3 points this year then I’ll concede the victory regardless of the score. Just don’t put an asterisk by the win because of unfortunate injuries.
BYU Football Preview
Written by: JohnSo, I know that we are heading into the last game of the regular season, but who really cares about the season when we are about to play the University of Utah? It’s all about this game. It will make or break our season. Take a look at the options. If BYU loses then we will probably still go to a bowl game, but have a much smaller chance to go to the Las Vegas bowl and may end up in one of the other smaller no name bowls that no one in the rest of the College sports world cares about. Although, I guess that is the same for the Las Vegas bowl, but at least the rest of the world is interested in the Las Vegas bowl because they could potentially come to Las Vegas to enjoy all of lifes sins. Either way, we lost to the Utes and seeing the breakdown of BYU after the TCU lost gives great cause for concern on whether this team can battle back after such an important loss.
More importantly, if BYU loses then the U would be heading to a bowl game. Unfortunately, the only time I like that thought is when I’m at family reunions with all those Ute fans and I have to toss them a bone by saying I’m (cough) happy that the Utes win because it brings more money to BYU and more acclaim to the conference. Enough kindness. I really hope the Utes don’t go to a bowl game and after such a stellar year last year I hope BYU trounces them and goes on to the Las Vegas bowl. Nothing could finish off a year better.
Let’s not get started on recruiting either, but if BYU wants to continue recruiting the best LDS talent(which they are going to have to do) then they better beat the U in order to add the little extra edge going into the recruiting season.

Crashutah.com was originally started as a way to create a “City Search” for Utah County since Citysearch.com was setup to handle only the major cities and didn’t really cover smaller cities like Provo. CrashUtah was from the idea of “Crash a Party” and so the entertainment and events posted would describe Provo’s need to have fun. The idea has worked out well and is one of the best locations to find out about Entertainment and Restaurants in Utah County. Take a look at the Original CrashUtah.
Crashutah.com has now found added meaning when I think about my new love as a BYU alumni. BYU SPORTS!! Crashutah.com now has added meaning anytime a BYU sports team plays that OTHER team to the North(yes, all you Utes now what I mean). In the mind of a BYU Sports fan they always want to win championships and dream of winning more national championships. However, at the end of the season all BYU fans really NEED is to Beat Utah.
Although BYU fans don’t really want to just beat Utah. We want to CRASH UTAH!! Thus, the site is born.
Point of Edicit: Everyone is welcome to post(even Univeristy of Utah fans). However, vulgar language and other things Crash Utah considers innapropriate will not be posted or allowed in any manner on the site. Feel free to argue any direction you think is appropriate, but you can do it without acting like a child. If you can’t express yourself in an appropriate manner you probably shouldn’t try posting here.
