My Last Minute Valentine’s Gift

I wrote about what I did for my Last Minute Valentine’s Gift for my wife over on Spoil On. I thought it was pretty creative and I’m pretty sure when she sees it tomorrow she’s going to be very happy. Hopefully it will help her relax and have a great Valentine’s Day. We decided to not do much else, but on Friday we’re going to the temple and we’re going to get tickets to go to Phantom of the Opera also. So, it should be a nice little Valentine’s day.

Now that my gift is done I’m going to go eat something for dinner.

Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a complete ultimate frisbee addict. It’s snowing here in Utah on my vacation and I’m still planning on finding a game and going out to play.

This also makes sense why I got so excited when I saw that someone had created an ultimate frisbee computer game. I’ll download it now and if you don’t see a post for a while, then you’ll know why.

Crazy Crazy Gift for Mother’s Day

Today I was reading through Digg and I found this really crazy gift for Mother’s Day. I don’t think I’ll be sending my mom a flaming bag o poo this Mother’s Day. My mother-in-law would be funny. However, I do like the other packages they have available on the site. I guess they call it a prezzle and have a choice of gift certificates or spa packages for Mother’s Day. Pretty cool since it is sent instantly (yes, I forgot to get something for my Mother this Mother’s Day) and they can’t open it until Mother’s Day.

Boot Camp

Recently I have been thinking about
Teen Help Boot Camp. What a great idea. I would like to sign my son up. Too bad they don’t have any for three year olds. In recent weeks he has:

-Found a permanent maker. He took that marker and graffiti-ed my carpet. If I don’t solve this issue now he might be one of those kids who miraculously is able to spray paint profanity on the highways exit signs. (How do kids do that without getting caught or killed is beyond me.

-The kitchen was found covered in shreds of paper towel. He is going to be caught littering at some park and will be forced to wear on of those orange jumpsuits picking up everyone else’s litter. This thought actually makes me feel quite happy that it will come back at him ten fold. (at least secretly I hope it does)

-And the worse thing he has done is kick his sister. You may not think it is bad. But his sister is three months old. All she was doing was lying on the floor cooing nicely when I caught him kicking her sides in. Of course she thinks it is funny. I did not. He is going to be one of those guys once again at the park beating up the homeless.

So I need boot camp intervention and I need it now. I haven’t found any for my three year old. But I have found some for when he is a teenager. I am beginning to do my research now because I now that unlike the parents who will be sending their teenagers off to college if my son doesn’t begin to change his behavior I will be sending him off to Boot camp. Can I still have a party to send him off?

There are many things to consider. Do these programs actually work? How much money do they cost? Is there one in my area (or where is the farthest one)?

I am going to to start looking now for the right program for my crazy toddler. But what do I do with him in the mean time?

Ways of the Geek

A recently article I found on Digg was titled 10 Ways Being a Geek Makes You More Attractive. I personally prefer nerd to geek, but in this instance I was interested since they are very similar.

My 2 favorites is that geeks make more money. My wife might argue otherwise, but it is generally true. I also loved the Geeks are passionate. I’m very passionate about almost everything. Technology is included in that passion.

Chat Rooms and Social Networking

I use to live in chat rooms. Now I pretty much live in social networking. No I haven’t gotten into myspace or facebook, but social networking in the blogosphere has been quite entertaining for me.

Also, since I’m a tech addict I’ve loved to see the various social networking technologies develop.

Today I came across and simple, but nice innovation on chat rooms and social networking called Pictari.com They take a chatroom and make it so the chat users can create social networks. I think it’s a great idea. People love being able to chat and by tieing it to social networking it adds a new level to the relationship between those people chatting.

I will warn you that chat rooms can be completely addicting. They are great if you need to pass the time. Add in social networking to the chat room and you might as well just set aside time to participate everyday.

Map Mashups for Travel and Tourism

I am working out the details to attend a conference called Educause in Dallas next month and I’m sad that they really haven’t embraced technology like they should. I really just wish that they would make a Map Mashup of the Dallas area and especially the hotels. This conference is enormous and so it has at least 8-10 different hotels as conference hotels. Why a technology conference can’t create a map mashup is beyond me. It would make Hotel Selection much easier and they could even add on other important locations like the Dallas Convention Center. That might be good to know.

So, all you Convention and Vistors Bureau (CVB), chamber of commerce, travel, tourism, hospitality, hotel, vacation rentals or any other sort of travel opportunity needs to make a Map Mashup before I start going insane. They’ve gotten so much easier to create now that no one has an excuse. Especially not a technology conference.

Diamonds Not a Girl’s Best Friend

CNN officially reported something today that my wife may want to disagree with.

Here’s the title of the article:
Study: Tech replaces diamonds as girl’s best friend

I don’t know why they needed to do a study on this. How many girls do you see walking around with diamonds? Sure, the movie stars have bling, but these days you are much more likely to see an iPod on a girl than a diamon. That’s good for all of us guys out here.

As Seen on TV Products for Cheaper Online

I had a friend in college whose dad owned a store in the mall that had products that you’d seen offered online. It was cool walking through the store to see all the As Seen On TV products. Did you know however, that many(if not all) of these products can be found online for even cheaper than you can find on TV or in stores?

I found this great oldie for Blublocker Original Sunglasses Beautiful stuff!!
