An Extraordinary Experiment in Taking Enormous Pictures

I really don’t know how to describe how amazed I am by the pictures you can find on Gigapxl. They took a 100 pound camera that takes these enormous well defined panorama pictures that are fantastic. The amazing part is that they are able to zoom in on the picture without losing any quality.

Honestly, I rarely have cared about the quality of digital images, but seeing an image this large really says something about the importance of the number of pixels your digital camera can handle. I guess all digital cameras aren’t alike. I bet working with these images is a lot of fun. I wish they had a picture of the camera itself.
