The other day I ran across a very interesting idea called Freecycle. The gist of the idea is that you create email groups of freecyclers in your community. Then, when one of the freecyclers is ready to throw something out they just send an email out about the thing they were going to get rid of. Sure, many of you are probably thinking that all they’re going to give is junk. Well, you would be exactly wrong. I’ve only been on the list a few days and I’ve seen almost everything go through the list. Even large items like a king sized bed, couches, tables, a basketball standard and much more.

Honestly I was amazed how much stuff gets sent out every day. The only downside of this is that at least in the Las Vegas freecycle group there are so many people that sometimes when something is posted that person is swarmed with emails and only one person can walk away with the item. I still like the concept and can really see some great benefits to both people and the landfill.
