Google Maps and a Wiki Bang Heads

I recently ran accross a nice google mashup that essentially applies the idea behind a wiki to a map. I love the idea that physical objects can be publically editable and you can mark what everything is on the map. Can you imagine going to a new place and just checking WikiMapia to see what everything is. Since Italy is my favorite place in the whole world, I could see how this would be so useful in Rome where everything is literally a piece of history. What a great tour guide this could be.

For now, it is fun to go around and see interesting places in the world. Just don’t show this to my father. He’s already addicted to finding places on his own.
