Really Interesting Water House

Written by: Juanchito

This is what I call a really interesting design. It’s a water house (which takes forever to load at least with the crappy wireless connection I currently have). Not very practical, but would be a lot of fun to see in real life.

Guess the Google

Written by: Juanchito

If you have a few minutes to waste you should try out Guess the Google. It’s a fun little game where you have to guess the google search term that was used to get the images you see. Some of them are easy and some are pretty hard. Interesting to see what comes up though.

Record Desktop Video

Anyone used Cam Studio to record them doing something? I think I need to use this at work to record some training for staff. Anyone know of anything better than Cam Studio for this?

Men’s List for Women

Written by: Juanchito

Yes, I think this was a forward from someone. I usually send whoever sent me a forward an email reprimanding them for wasting my time with what I equate to spam. Most people take it ok when I tell them that I get the same thing over and over and it’s just annoying.

Well, this one is just too funny to not post. I hope my wife reads this post.

Photoshop Replacement

Written by: Juanchito

I’ve always heard that Gimp was the best free photoshop replacement. I’ve used it for a ton of things and been quite happy with it. Something I read suggested that Paint.Net was a good free photoshop replacement software too.

Gimp is too much for my wife to do her digital scrap booking. I’ll have to try out Paint.Net and see if that would work better for her.

Isn’t free software great. I can’t imagine most people are still paying for photoshop.

Don’t Become a Blogger

This one has just been sitting here for a while too, but it still rings true for those interested in starting to blog.

Yes, I’m a blogger and I’m addicted.

Free Video Editing Software

Written by: Juanchito

I’ve wanted a nice free video editing software and the closest I’ve found is this list. Anyone have experience with a decent free video editing software. Hopefully something that does a good job capturing video also from a video capture card?

From my searches it doesn’t seem like open source video editing software has done that well.

Bellagio Fountains with Mentos

Written by: Juanchito

This is a classic video of essentially the Bellagio fountains done with Diet Coke and mentos. I love watching this thing. I can’t imagine the work that was involved in setting it up, but it’s awesome.

If I wasn’t so lazy I would have found it on Youtube and posted the video. Oh well, the video is still fun to watch.

Google Adsense Most Valuable Keywords

Written by: Juanchito

I love when someone finds various charts online that show where someone got paid $80 for a keyword like “DUI lawyers las vegas.” I really think it is great to be able to find a blog that can make $80 a click. I would love to have one myself. However, I think the best lesson for Google Adsense users is to avoid the dumbest adsense mistake.

The basic concept is that an $80 click through that happens once a year is not as good as a $1 click through that happens every day. I’ve personally found that most click throughs are valued down in the 1-10 cent range. So, if you find a popular keyword that pays $1 a click, then see how much traffic you can generate around that keyword. It hasn’t made me rich yet, but it has given me a check every month from Google.
