Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a complete ultimate frisbee addict. It’s snowing here in Utah on my vacation and I’m still planning on finding a game and going out to play.
This also makes sense why I got so excited when I saw that someone had created an ultimate frisbee computer game. I’ll download it now and if you don’t see a post for a while, then you’ll know why.
I recently came across a pretty interesting way to try and market something as common as a backgammon game. It’s a website trying to promote online backgammon. They are using what they call the “#1 Player at BackgammonMasters, Jean-Claude the animated tiger.” It’s really quite creative what they are doing. They have an animated video of Jean-Claude doing his thing. Here’s one of them:
It’s a pretty cool animation. The first part was really nice and I loved the sign that looked just like the sign that is so famous here in Las Vegas.
Jean-Claude is a really interesting character. He has a series of these videos of Jean-Claude explaining how to succeed at a variety of life’s endeavors. Jean-Claude is a tiger, humoristic, mafia type, dressed in 70′s clothes (bell-bottoms and cream-colored shoes, a button-up shirt with a dice print and a large dollar sign chain around his neck) sitting in his trailer in the used junk car lot he manages. I loved the bling around his neck.
I think there on to a pretty interesting concept that could be an interesting method of viral marketing. Especially since viewers win prizes for trivia questions after viewing, and are offered rewards for suggestion any script ideas used. Looks like even the common game of backgammon isn’t immune to viral internet marketing.

It’s really hard for me to categorize games. I just love them all. However, I can tell you that Risk is right near the top as far as board games go. I absolutely love that game. My brother and I would play it all the time, often roping my father or brothers into playing also. We absolutely loved it.
Well, I found an online game that is very similar to risk and absolutely addicting. It’s called Kdice and uses Google’s APIs (at least I think that’s what it’s called) to do all the work. The guy who created it is an absolute genius. I usually don’t have that hard of a time going to bed at midnight. I started playing that game and was up way too late.
So, my message to you. DO NOT Start Playing Kdice!! Ok, now that I’ve warned you, go have fun.
Google has made a great announcement about being able to add Google Gadgets to your own personal webpage. This is such a great idea. They are going to come out with so many gadgets that it will be a great feature for so many websites. Here’s an example of a Google Gadget for Pac Man

Rahul Sood, the CTO of VoodooPC, has one of the most transparent posts I’ve seen by a large company. I honestly am not that interested in gaming systems. I guess I watch through the corner of my eye. However, I was interested when Dell acquired Alienware. Why? Because I buy a lot of Dell products. So, anything Dell does makes me interested.
The best part of Rahul Sood’s post is him describing his interaction with Michael Dell. It’s a great read for anyone starting a business. I loved that both of them are up late at night working on their company. While I don’t have a company(at least not of any significance) I know what it is like to be up late into the night because your head is full of ideas and your body can’t sleep because it’s too excited.
In fact, technology pretty much has the same effect on me. Yes, I’ve had a lot of late nights.
Here’s another great flash game where you skateboard and earn points. It was pretty addicting because I wanted to get through the course without crashing and I also wanted to see what else could be done. Don’t blame me if it wastes too much of your time.
During a recent trip to see my family in Utah I went to a drive in movie with my father and sisters. It was a lot of fun to have the old drive in feel. It’s even better since I have the back of the van and a bunch of blankets and pillows to make it soft.
We ended up watching Cars, Disney’s latest animated film. I really enjoyed the show. It’s incredible what they can do with the animation these days. It’s almost lifelike. I love it.
After seeing the movie I was amazed to find out how much branding Disney has done to make more money off of their movies. Sure, they’ve always had Disneyland where they integrated the movies into the experience and sold merchandise. As I researched more I found out how well Disney has created its brand.

Disney items are one of the best things that I could possibly get for a child. I love what Dinsney has done over time with their products. Disney’s animated movies and associated products are high quality and family oriented. I’m amazed at the different animations out there that people show their kids. Why would you ever want something in your house that relates to those animations? You don’t have to worry about that with Disney. I think Disney would be happy about many of the things that he started. I just wish that it carried over to their other movies that aren’t animations. It often does, but not always.
I have only been addicted to one video game since high school and that game is quake 3. I would also admit that I wasn’t really addicted to it since I wouldn’t ever really play it when I wasn’t getting paid to be at work. Luckily I had a great job that I could play quake while I worked. Don’t ask me the details. Let’s just say I was very blessed.
We would have great Quake tournaments doing capture the flag and it was great because there was a level playing field for all of us since we didn’t have special mods or anything. Although, I wouldn’t say we all played level. Some of us were better than others. However, it was awesome.
So, you can imagine my amazement when I found that someone had spent a LOT of time creating quake in a web browser. That is really something else. I can’t believe someone would have that much time. Sure, it’s not quite the same game, but it is a great way to waste a few minutes of time and reminisce about days gone by.
Take a look at this video of someone playing tetris in Japan. This is unreal. I think some of the moves require a button that I never had in my game. However, still impressive.
