Transgressing a Blog
Written by: JuanchitoMany of you have probably wondered why I would transgress my blog like this. Well, let’s just say it hasn’t been purposeful. I just have been distracted with a ton of other things. I have a stack of things that I’d like to blog about, but I just haven’t had the time to flesh them out. So, here’s a little update on what I’ve been doing lately.
I’ve been spending a lot of time working with a community called Cambrian House that basically uses crowds to select, develop and market ideas. Well, I’ve been really blessed to be apart of the community because a couple of my ideas have been approved by the crowds. Right now my first idea is called Spoil My Spouse which has been created and is going through a market test. If you are looking for a gift for your wife then go and try out the Holiday Spoiler that they have going on now. I sent one to my wife and she was so excited that I was thinking of her. It was pretty neat. Plus, I have the best wife and so she deserves a gift.
My second idea is called It’s Just Lunch for Networking (and the name will probably change). It just won the Cambrian House Idea War and now they (and me) are working on developing the idea. The coolest part is that Cambrian House sent out a press release about Just Lunch for Networking and Forbes.com picked up the release. Pretty neat to be quoted on Forbes.com.
Other than that I’m almost done with school. One more class and one more paper and I’m done for the semester. I can’t wait. A number of other things have happened, but not too many worth note. I promise I’ll do better at updating my blog more regularly now.

Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco
Written by: JuanchitoI’ve been really taking a look at the upcoming Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco. I with that I could attend. It seems like it would be a really interesting conference. However, I definitely have ulterior motives. I’ve been participating at Cambrian House in what they call Idea Warz. Well, I’ve just finished competing in the finals of the competition and Cambrian House will be announcing the winner of the first Idea Warz at the Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco. I just really hope that it is my idea because that would give some good publicity to my idea. We’ll just have to see.
In another piece of related news, Cambrian House has picked one of my other ideas for the second Idea Warz tournament. This one is called It’s Just Lunch for Networking. I think it’s a good idea. I’d appreciate anyone that takes the time to vote for it too. It would be a lot of fun to go far in the second tournament too. I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes.
One cool thing is that Cambrian House has already registered the domain name Spoil My Spouse .com so I expect that I’ll see a website at that web address around Nov 7th when they announce the winner of the first idea warz.

Spoil Your Spouse – My Great Idea
Written by: JuanchitoI’ve been participating in a community called Cambrian House for the past couple months. The basic idea is that you can submit ideas to the company and then after going through an “Idea Warz” the best idea will get developed by the company and the community. A percentage of the money that is made by that idea is then paid to you. Pretty cool huh? So cool that I of course had to start a Cambrian House blog.
Well, one of my ideas called Spoil Your Spouse (originally called Spoil My Wife) has been sent on to the Idea Warz tournament. Well, I was lucky enough to have made it through the first round of the tournament and now I’m on to the second round.
I’m asking all of my loyal blog readers (both of you) to go and check out Cambrian House and vote for my idea in the Idea Warz tournament. I’d appreciate all your votes since if I win then my idea gets to actually be given a market test.
Also, if you are a fellow postie then I’d love for you to blog about my idea on your blog also. If you do then I promise to send an email to your spouse letting them know they need to sign up for Spoil My Spouse. Think of the benefits you’ll reap.

Language Search Engines and Lingotek
Written by: JuanchitoI recently came across a new company called Lingotek. Here’s a description of what they are doing:
“Lingotek is a new online translation tool for language professionals. Lingotek is not machine translation (MT) and it is not translation memory (TM). Lingotek is a Language Search Engine — the only tool of its kind. It may be used where TM will not work or may replace TM as a higher value, more affordable solution. Lingotek is a global web 2.0 collaborative service that enhances translator’s efficiency by quickly finding meaning-based translated material for reuse.”
A language search engine? What an interesting idea!! I’m really impressed with the idea. Even more interesting is that the guy who started it had been working for LDS church doing all the translations for all the different publications and general conferences. It’s nice to see that he could spread his wings and become an entrepreneur. I really hope it does well.
I wonder how Lingotek could work with an interesting Cambrian House project called BigHal – official website.
Here’s a description of BigHal:
“BigHal is a language translator plugin for your favorite Instant Messaging program including MSN, ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and AIM. With BigHal you can chat in your native language and it will be translated to any of the supported languages.
BigHal can help you get beyond the barrier of languages and enables conversations that could never have happened before; giving people the means to communicate with anyone, anywhere in the world.”

Cambrian House Podcast on the Idea Warz Revisions
Written by: JuanchitoAndyDoan and Aidan who I’ve gotten to know over the past week or so in IRC have created a really interesting podcast discussing some of the issues surrounding the changes being made at Cambrian House’s Idea Warz.
You can sign up for Cambrian House
and see what I’m talking about.
Here’s my best idea so far:
Here’s my personal favorite idea:
It’s Just Lunch for Networking
And an idea that should be doing much better than it is doing:
Enjoy the podcast and Cambrian House. I got my first earnings and submitted my first project this week.
