Cool Baby Name Program
Written by: JuanchitoThere are a jillion little programs online that show you long lists of baby names. Mostly it is mind numbing to go through the long lists. I’ve never once found one of my children’s name in a list. Someone described it to me as looking at an alphabetical list that makes them start to appear all the same. Oh well, I’m done giving names to children (I think). However, I did come across this really cool baby name application. It took me a minute to see how it worked, but it has a really neat way of presenting the popularity of names over time. Pretty neat all around I’d say.
It also shows that the name John has been in a sharp decline. Sounds good to me. There can only be so many quality John’s in the world.

The Start of a Great Open Source Software Directory
Written by: JuanchitoI’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a good open source software directory. Today I found one that looks pretty close to what I would have expected.
Most directories have too many. Others are missing some things or are hard to navigate. This one looks promising. I hope it continues to improve and stays away from crappy unfinished projects.

Great Videos by Kina Grannis for Crash the Super Bowl and Digg
Written by: JuanchitoI came across a video on Techcrunch today that had me laughing so hard. It was about Digg and it was spot on. Plus, the singing by Kina Grannis was quite good too.
Of course, I had to see what Kina Grannis is about and I found out that she’s participating in the Crash the Super Bowl contest. You can see Kina’s website to support her in the contest or just go straight to the Crash the Super Bowl site to vote (you’ll have to be already logged into myspace to vote which is quite lame).
Here’s another video from Kina Grannis where she sings a song called Cambridge. I really enjoyed this one. I think it’s her best song. Pretty amazing talent I’d say.
Best of luck Kina in the contest.

iTunes Affiliate Sucks
Written by: JuanchitoI’ve been doing iTunes Affiliate for a while, and let me say that their payout sucks. Considering it costs them almost nothing to deliver the music, it’s sad that they can’t share more with their affiliates.
Here’s a quick look at how I’ve done recently:
Items Purchased: 799
Sold: $928.54
Average Order: $4.30
Total Commissions: $46.79
Average Commission per order: $0.22
Something doesn’t seem quite right with only getting paid about 5% of all the sales. Oh well, I guess eBay, Amazon and CJ just got more of my business.
Test Multiple Browsers
Written by: JuanchitoI’m starting to develop more and more now that I’ve needed to and so I was happy when I came across this website that will test your website across a ton of different web browsers. I love how technology makes doing other technology easier. Now if all the browsers would just follow standards, then we’d even be happier. However, I don’t expect that any time soon.
2 More Entrepreneur Readings
Written by: JuanchitoA couple more good VC readings that I’ve been enjoying of late. This is a pretty interesting blog and here’s a long list of article written by the amazing Paul Graham. I’m sure there are more so if you have any good suggestions, let me know.
Ultimate Frisbee Computer Game
Written by: JuanchitoEveryone that knows me knows that I’m a complete ultimate frisbee addict. It’s snowing here in Utah on my vacation and I’m still planning on finding a game and going out to play.
This also makes sense why I got so excited when I saw that someone had created an ultimate frisbee computer game. I’ll download it now and if you don’t see a post for a while, then you’ll know why.
Remote Desktop Keyboard Alternatives
Written by: JuanchitoI use remote desktop all the time and I often find it hard to know which keyboard shortcuts I should use and which ones will work through remote desktop. Ctl alt del is the most common one I need. Luckily windows has created some remote desktop keyboard alternatives. Very useful for those who use remote desktop as much as I do.
Really Interesting Water House
Written by: JuanchitoThis is what I call a really interesting design. It’s a water house (which takes forever to load at least with the crappy wireless connection I currently have). Not very practical, but would be a lot of fun to see in real life.
Guess the Google
Written by: JuanchitoIf you have a few minutes to waste you should try out Guess the Google. It’s a fun little game where you have to guess the google search term that was used to get the images you see. Some of them are easy and some are pretty hard. Interesting to see what comes up though.
