The Work and the Glory: A House Divided Interviews

I’m very excited for the third video of The Work and the Glory: A House Divided opening today. Unfortunately, I’m outside of Utah and so I won’t be able to see it for a few months. However, I’ve found a number of interviews with Joshua Steed about the latest The Work and the Glory video. The thing I’m looking forward to most is that supposedly in this movie they actually have a little closure to the storyline.

Enjoy The Work and the Glory and I’d love to hear anyone’s review of the movie after they’ve seen it.

Drag Racing Taken to the Next Level

I’ve been watching some really interesting Drag Racing Clips from SpeedTV’s show PINKS. It’s some pretty sweet stuff. It’s not like the drag racing you might seen on ESPN. That’s boring since it is so standard and everyone has pretty much the same technology. Drag racing on PINKS is someone putting their baby on the line. I love seeing the emotion people have for their cars. People are completely addicted to their rides. The thought of losing it should be scary which is what makes PINKS interesting. If you don’t believe me then watch this clip to see what I mean:

If you liked it you can catch an all day marathon of PINKS followed by premiere of PINKS All Out on Speedtv on Nov 23rd.

I Made It to the TOP of

At one point Scoble mentioned that he was bored of seeing his name as the #1 blogger on blogs). I commented that I was working on passing him. Well, today I finally reached my goal of being #1 on It’s pretty sweet. It only took me 7,536 pageviews yesterday to get ahead of him. I wonder what it would be like to look at his stats package. I think if I was in his position I would want to see more of the details of who was referring people to my site than offers.

Anyway, I’m all hemmed up being #1 on I’d like to thank Karina Smirnoff the most since people searching for her have been my biggest number of visitors.

The best part is that I did it almost entirely with natural search engine techniques.

Here’s a screenshot for proof:
#1 Blogger on

Now I’m just asking myself why I did it on and why I didn’t just do it on my own blog. I’ve actually been seriously considering merging my So You Think You Can Dance blog and my Something for Nothing blog. What do you think?

Tomorrow I Will be #1 on

I’ve had a goal to make it to #1 on That’s a pretty lofty goal considering I’m competing against the infamous Scoble. I’m not worried. I have a plan. I probably won’t stay there too long, but I just want to knock him off for a little while anyway. I made it to #3 on last week and so this week I’m planning on making it to the top. Plus, I’m not even planning on getting Dugg or Reddit to really boost traffic. Although, that would be really nice if that happened too.

Anyway, I’ll post a screenshot of me being #1 on later. Oh yeah, and of course you can help me by checking out my So You Think You Can Dance blog on There are plenty of sweet videos to watch if you love dancing.

Update: You can watch me go to the top on the Top Blogs on WordPress. My blog is called So You Think You Can Dance. I’m at #10 now!!

Update 2: I’ve made it to #2 WordPress Blog. Now I only have Scoble left. Yesterday I got 7536 pageviews. If that gives you some perspective on the traffic that Scoble generates to his blog.

Do I really need to say much more than the title? A video of it would be nice, but we’re probably never going to get a good video of that. You can find the full article on the Mercury News website. The most interesting part of the article was that the people that worked at this location had a special emergency number on their badges which they could call to get information. Pretty good planning on eBay/PayPal’s part. Can someone just do that for my office so I can work from home?

Earning Interest on Your Money

I’m happy to finally say that my wife and I have been very fortunate this past year and we finally have a nice little nest egg in the bank. We’ve been lucky to NEVER been in debt in our marriage and except for a future house I don’t expect that will change. However, now that we have money in the bank we need to see what type of investments we should make to get the most out of our money.

If you’ve looked at a bank’s money market or savings account then you’ll quickly realize that they are ripping you off. I have been looking into Zion’s Internet Money Market account as an option since it pays 5% interest which isn’t too bad. My brother and father have used it and really like it. My dad and brother both use to work for Zions Bank so I know they are a solid company.

I must admit that I have been intrigued by the concept of online investment. In fact, I’ve talked to my wife that I was interested in using some of the money I made blogging to see what it was like to invest online. There are a few options out there. Zopa is one example which is working in the UK and is coming to the US real soon. Another is called Prosper. They are both very similar. It is essentially peer to peer lending. Basically, as an investor you make a bunch of loans to various people. In fact, you can choose the credit rating of the people you will give a loan too. By distributing the loans across a large cross section of people then you are able to cover someone not making their payment. It’s a very interesting concept and I love that you could make the interest that before only the bank could make.

Has anyone else tried it out? I’d really like to get in and try it with some money I don’t care about. My idea is to take a small amount of money which I will continually reinvest and see how much money could be made with it. What do you think?

Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco

I’ve been really taking a look at the upcoming Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco. I with that I could attend. It seems like it would be a really interesting conference. However, I definitely have ulterior motives. I’ve been participating at Cambrian House in what they call Idea Warz. Well, I’ve just finished competing in the finals of the competition and Cambrian House will be announcing the winner of the first Idea Warz at the Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco. I just really hope that it is my idea because that would give some good publicity to my idea. We’ll just have to see.

In another piece of related news, Cambrian House has picked one of my other ideas for the second Idea Warz tournament. This one is called It’s Just Lunch for Networking. I think it’s a good idea. I’d appreciate anyone that takes the time to vote for it too. It would be a lot of fun to go far in the second tournament too. I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes.

One cool thing is that Cambrian House has already registered the domain name Spoil My Spouse .com so I expect that I’ll see a website at that web address around Nov 7th when they announce the winner of the first idea warz.

Forum Monkey

I think I must have multiple personalities online. Some days I want to blog. Other days I want to be on forums. Other days I want to read other blogs. Other days I want to read digg. Well, really it’s probably more like by the hour.

All of that said, lately I find myself really leaning towards forums. In fact, I’ve been spending way to much time at PayPerPost forums. It’s tough. I want to know what’s going on. Plus, I think Ted and froogle do a good job of keeping them very interesting. In fact, they drive you nuts with the little hints they drop on the boards. Sometimes I just want to run them up a tree until they tell me what they have in mind.

I do have to give PayPerPost credit for doing a great job keeping the PPP community interested. I’m participating in another forum/community and you can tell that they are not marketers and don’t know how to manage a community. Ted is a marketer through and through and does an amazing job selling the PayPerPost product and developing a community. I wish that the same could be said for some of the other forums I’m on.

Now if Ted could only find a way for me to make money posting to a forum then I’d be really happy. Forums are just too much fun because of the interaction that occurs.
