Making Web Design a Commodity - Websites in 48 Hours
Written by: JuanchitoI came across a very unique concept for creating a small business website. No longer do you have to wait weeks for a professional website to be created and start selling your product. A company called websitesin48hours.com is creating professionally created websites in only 48 hours or they are giving you your money back.
With the invention of the internet, ideas are developed and copied very quickly. If you are stuck waiting for your website to be created then you are giving people more time to imitate your idea and take market share.
They’ve also started to embrace a little bit of Web 2.0 by starting a blog where experts are available to answer any of your questions and are planning to offer expert advice.
A Great Small Business - Kid Teaches Halo
Written by: JuanchitoAn 8 year old has already started his own little small business tutoring people in how to play Halo.
The brown-eyed second grader, Victor De Leon III, has been tutoring gaming greenhorns in Halo 2, an Xbox game in which the player fights to save Earth from destruction, for $25 an hour. That’s a ton of money, considering most of his peers have no income beyond their tooth-fairy stash.
“It’s fun,” said the digital-pastime prodigy, who’s been tutoring people online from the gaming room of his Mastic home for more than a year.
His students hail from as far away as Australia. He’s even given some free pointers to New Jersey Net star Richard Jefferson.
“He’s better at basketball,” Victor giggled.
His proud father, Victor De Leon II, said Jefferson was pretty star-struck meeting the youngster, who goes by the name Lil Poison II in gaming circles.
“He actually asked my son for his autograph,” said De Leon.
Victor happily obliged but had to print it because he doesn’t know cursive yet.

With video games getting bigger and bigger business, this guy has an amazingly bright future ahead of him if he can capitalize on the skills he’s created.
No More Crash Carts in Data Centers - KVM2USB to the Rescue
Written by: JuanchitoUSB has been one of the most incredible technologies that has come around. Almost everything has been done with USB. When I say everything I really mean everything. If you don’t believe me then go and search Digg and find all the various USB creations that have been made. My favorite is a USB grill.
I’m not sure why you’d want a USB grill, but today I came across a use for USB that is absolutely fantastic!! Not to mention it’s very useful. It’s called KVM2USB. KVM2USB conveys the VGA stream from any host computer to a laptop, while emulating the laptop’s keyboard and mouse outputs. How sweet is that?

Basically that means that all you need is to carry around a laptop (check!) and the KVM2USB with its cable. Easy enough. I’ve always hated having to hook up a monitor, mouse and keyboard into a different server. It’s a pain in the butt. The KVM2USB seems to pretty much solve those problems.
Take a look at the KVM2USB Technical Specifications.
It is important to note that KVM2USB requires USB 2.0. Here’s the reasoning from their FAQ:
KVM2USB transfers substantial amounts of data for each captured frame. As USB 1.x buses are very slow (12Mb/s), they do not provide sufficient bandwidth for KVM2USB. USB 2.0 buses have a much higher transfer rate (480Mb/s), which allows KVM2USB acquire and transfer several frames per second.
Makes sense if you think about it. Luckily laptops these days are all coming with USB 2.0. If it used anything else then I’d be a little concerned whether it would really work.
The Famous Epocrates Goes Online - Check Out Lexapro for Example
Written by: JuanchitoWorking in a Doctor’s office I’ve seen how in love all of the doctors and nurse practioners are in love with the program Epocrates on their PDA. Well, Epocrates just announced that all of the good information you were able to previously get on your PDA is available using Epocrates Online. Here’s a description of what Epocrates Online offers:
Epocrates Online provides clinicians with access to critical information about more than 3,300 drugs, including dosing, pricing, potential drug interactions and Medicare Part D formulary coverage from any computer with an Internet connection.
You can even see an example of the information that Epocrates makes available by seeing the Lexapro listing.
Epocrates has over 500,000 healthcare professionals using their product so we know it’s the best. I’m interested to see how many EMR companies will integrate this new product into their program. Maybe everyone else knew this, but it was also really interesting for me to find out that Epocrates ranks 257 in the 24th annual Inc.500. With such a large company no wonder they can afford to put out such great products.
An Interesting Trivia Blog
Written by: JuanchitoI always love when I come across a blog that is going to require me to read it all the time because it has some really interesting content. The Aviva Trivia Blog is one of those places. It is a well written blog with all sorts of zaney off the wall commentary. Here’s one example from their blog talking about some of the weirdest jobs in the world:
Chicken sexer: How would you like to be the one who sorts through baby chicks to determine whether they’re male or female?
Laughter therapist: Not just for comedians anymore! A laughter therapist actually teaches people to laugh-at themselves and the world- in order to better their mental health and spiritual well-being!
Hair boiler: Imagine coming home after a hard days’ work, smelling like your job as someone who boils animal hair for a living!
Vermiculturist: Ahem- worm farmer. Need anymore be said about that?
Cheese sprayer: It’s hard not to feel like the ‘Big Cheese’ when you’re in charge of the spray hose that controls spraying layers of cheese on popcorn!
Blueberry counter: You know what they say - too many blueberries spoil the pot!
Odor judgers: You’ve gotta have some sort of fetish to want to smell somebody’s funky pits for deodorant effectiveness!
Eye bank procurer: Gathering eyes and corneas for transplants and research, ya see?
Fish liver sorter: Just like it sounds- with buckets for livers of different sizes, shapes, colors and textures.
That’s some sick stuff. Some people are so weird. The even crazier thing is that I don’t think those jobs pay any more and they are completely crazy jobs.
Oh the list of facts this blog contains that we should never know, but sure is interesting to read.
