Buying a House and Getting a Mortgage in Las Vegas

Written by:

When my wife and I moved to Las Vegas we had a dream that one day we would buy a home. After getting settled in and knowing the area, we realized that housing prices were going through the roof. We did find a couple places within our budget, but they were in the ghetto. The portable office that was selling the houses had bars on it. That’s when I knew I didn’t want to live there.

A friend of ours decided to sell her home and offered us the house at a very good price. We looked it over and probably should have taken it. Unfortunately, the house sold so quickly that we didn’t really have a chance to make the deal happen. The scary part is that it probably means she was offering us a killer deal since it was $15,000 below what she ended up selling it for.

What can I say, buying a house is a huge purchase. Here in Las Vegas we really shouldn’t be concerned at all. Every time a casino gets built there are thousands of more jobs and that means that they need tons more houses for those people. Some people say that the Las Vegas bubble in the housing market is going to pop. I don’t think so. Housing prices have leveled off, but if they popped they’d have to go down. I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

I guess that means I just need to get out there and check out all the different home loans. If I get this promotion at my company, then I’m pretty sure my wife is going to want a house. I can’t really blame her for that.

Ether – Getting Paid to Talk on The Phone

Written by:

I came across a website that I’d never seen before called Ether. I can’t believe that someone can actually start a business like this.

Here’s an excerpt of what the idea is about:

We make it easy to sell what you say.
We all have something valuable to say. Whether you’re an accountant, a computer expert, a blogger, or a good gossiper, you can earn money selling what you say to others over the phone or through email.

I don’t know if I could imagine someone paying to talk to me on the phone. In fact, as I write that it sounds to much like phone sex to work for me. Sure, I have some knowledge, but I’m not sure talking to me would be worth any money.

The worst part of the idea is that you really have to market it yourself on your own blog or website or something. If they had a community of professionals that you could call and therefore would provide me with free referrals then it might be more interesting. Either way, it kind of freaks me out.

Here’s a full description of the process of getting paid to talk on the phone:

Make Money Blogging

Written by:

At the beginning of July I ran across a website called PayPerPost. The basic idea is that I post about certain subjects and websites and I get paid to blog. It’s really just a form of blog advertising. Many people have been skeptical of it, and I must admit that I was at first too. I jumped in feet first not expecting to be paid anything, but if I was paid then that’s a bonus.

Well, I guess that means I’m getting paid my bonus. I’ve made over $600 so far and I already have $230 of it in my bank account. I should say it was in my bank account. It’s all been spent by now. The good part is that almost every day I get another chunk of money transferred to me. The trickle effect is nice because then I don’t spend the money all in one place.

Take a look at these examples of what you could make blogging:
1. If you blogged everyday, 3 posts per day at an average of $5 per post you would make $5,475 in a year.

2. If you blogged everyday, 3 posts per day at an average of $7.50 per post you would make $8,212.50 in a year.

3. If you blogged everyday, 3 posts per day at an average of $10.00 per post you would make $10,950 in a year.

Also, if you want to see my movie skills and be entertained, check out a video I made about what I’m going to do with the money I made blogging.

Tabletop Computer – Absolutely Unreal

Written by:

There are so many new technologies coming out every day that it is hard to keep them all straight. Espescially since most of them just build off of an existing technology. Well, this video shows taking technology to a whole new level. The idea of using your hands as a mouse and a tabletop computer to accept multiple inputs at the same time is AWESOME!!

USB Drives, Flash Drives, Thumb Drives, Whatever You Call It, Get One!!

Written by:

I don’t want to mention names, but there is someone at my office who is still using a floppy drive. I honestly didn’t know that they existed anymore. I told her to take that stack of floppy disks and put the huge stack of annoying, unreliable and piece of junk floppies on one little Portable Drive. People just can’t continue to use floppies. They are horrible and just cause problems. The only reasonable reason to use a floppy anymore is for a boot disk. I do have this nice floppy disk that will wipe out a hard drive. Honestly, it’s kind of a scary disk to have. Otherwise, get rid of them.

Do you realize that on one Portable Drive you could store 120 GB of data on one little device. That’s roughly 50,000 times more space. There are a ton of other features on a Portable Drive, but space and reliability is the most important. Add in a one touch backup of your hard drive and you have your whole computer backed up.

Microsoft Research Found a Way to Remove Spam from Searches

Here’s a quote from the article:

Researchers at Microsoft have developed a tool to scrub search engines of major Web sites that pollute search results and ultimately help clean the Web of spam.

Called Strider Search Defender, the tool is designed to dig out Web pages that are a front for spam Web sites, according to a paper published by Microsoft researchers on Thursday. These Web pages typically reside on blogging sites and other services that provide free Web space, the researchers said.

This could be really interesting to see how it plays out with MSN Live search.
