Google Analytics Finally!!

Written by: Juanchito

As many of you may know already Google bought a nice statics program called urchin a long while ago and changed the name to Google Analytics. Well, they were offering this statistical program for free initially, but there was such a large number of people interested in free statistics that they stopped giving it out free while they could plan for more users. About a 2 months ago I submitted a request to be put on their virtual “waiting list” to be able to use their statistical tool as soon as they had enough capacity for me.

Much to my surprise this week I got an email from google analytics saying that I can finally use this wonderful free service. I signed up today and put it on a couple of my websites. I am a little nervous because I’m not sure my footer code is just before the tag like it is suppose to be. It should be close. Yes, it was a poor web design and yes it was my first real php website. I also wanted to add it to my various blogs. I decided to start with one and I thought I might as well just use a plug in since there was one out there. So far it doesn’t seem to be recognizing it. Maybe I’ll have to do it manually. The plug in seems so simple that I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work. It didn’t error on me so at least that’s good. We’ll see what happens.

In the end, I’m not too concerned about the google analytics because I love BA Stats (Beta) for my Wordpress blogs. Honestly I’m addicted to those stats. I love seeing what happens and they seem quite reliable. I’m not sure why it is beta and there are a number of enhancements I’d like to make. I’m not sure why someone hasn’t taken it to the next level. Maybe I should do that for my first step into wordpress plug in writing.
