100 Laptops?

MIT Making $100 Laptops

What a great way to use Linux. Make it nearly barebones and just what people do. Most people just need to surf the internet, write some emails and open a word document(or should I say OpenOffice document) Computers these days are just overkill(But it sure is fun to have an overkill computer)

Horrible News for Vegas

Written by: Juanchito

An article found on CNN puts 2 las vegas areas(North Las Vegas and Henderson) in the top 6 fastest growing cities. The article says that’s good for those that want to buy a house. I think they are crazy. That makes house prices skyrocket. Maybe we should move back to Hawaii. We’re never going to have a house now.

The only good part of the article was this:
The median price for a single-family home in Gilbert is around $220,000, compared with more than $387,000 in Boston and $641,000 in San Francisco.
Too bad all of those prices are more than we want to spend on a house.

Granger Killed us this Year He Deserves an NBA Chance

As much as I hated seeing this article where it was quoted that:
“We were playing BYU and our center goes out about seven minutes into the half,” McKay recalls. “I walk down to the end of the bench and Danny goes, ‘I’m going to check on him in the locker room.’ Danny came out and said that our center couldn’t play anymore. He told me, ‘Put me in if we want to win.’ ”
I still have to give props to Granger, because I remember listening to the game on the radio and you could just tell the difference in BYU’s play when he entered the game.

Good Luck in Boston and May the Celtics lose(that’s for my brother and sister-in-law)

Cougar Soccer?

Written by: Juanchito

It was really nice to read that Cougar Soccer Might have a Chance at the Playoffs. I think it is a great premise, but this is just not the case. It is a perfect example of why Newsnet writers are so fully BYU biased that they have no perspective. Anyone who has watched the BYU soccer season knows that they have greatly improved and that they deserve some recognition, but to think that BYU soccer will make it the playoffs the way they are playing is ludicrous. That is like thinking that BYU football is going to win the MWC this year(as much as I want them to) I would love to see BYU soccer in the playoffs in a semi pro league. What a great thing for BYU and for soccer. I just don’t think that it’s very reasonable. All the previous articles written by “professional” journalists have said good things about BYU soccer and its improvement, but hasn’t been close to a playoff worthy team. Hopefully this year will rollover to next year when we might have improved. Just don’t talk about it prematurely.
