I just posted on Tech 0verkill and so I had to post what should be arriving this week at my work:
Gateway Convertible Tablet

Anyone have some good tablet applications? I can’t wait to waste at least one whole day of work playing with it!!

MIT Making $100 Laptops

What a great way to use Linux. Make it nearly barebones and just what people do. Most people just need to surf the internet, write some emails and open a word document(or should I say OpenOffice document) Computers these days are just overkill(But it sure is fun to have an overkill computer)

Horrible News for Vegas

An article found on CNN puts 2 las vegas areas(North Las Vegas and Henderson) in the top 6 fastest growing cities. The article says that’s good for those that want to buy a house. I think they are crazy. That makes house prices skyrocket. Maybe we should move back to Hawaii. We’re never going to have a house now.

The only good part of the article was this:
The median price for a single-family home in Gilbert is around $220,000, compared with more than $387,000 in Boston and $641,000 in San Francisco.
Too bad all of those prices are more than we want to spend on a house.

Granger Killed us this Year He Deserves an NBA Chance

As much as I hated seeing this article where it was quoted that:
“We were playing BYU and our center goes out about seven minutes into the half,” McKay recalls. “I walk down to the end of the bench and Danny goes, ‘I’m going to check on him in the locker room.’ Danny came out and said that our center couldn’t play anymore. He told me, ‘Put me in if we want to win.’ ”
I still have to give props to Granger, because I remember listening to the game on the radio and you could just tell the difference in BYU’s play when he entered the game.

Good Luck in Boston and May the Celtics lose(that’s for my brother and sister-in-law)

Cougar Soccer?

It was really nice to read that Cougar Soccer Might have a Chance at the Playoffs. I think it is a great premise, but this is just not the case. It is a perfect example of why Newsnet writers are so fully BYU biased that they have no perspective. Anyone who has watched the BYU soccer season knows that they have greatly improved and that they deserve some recognition, but to think that BYU soccer will make it the playoffs the way they are playing is ludicrous. That is like thinking that BYU football is going to win the MWC this year(as much as I want them to) I would love to see BYU soccer in the playoffs in a semi pro league. What a great thing for BYU and for soccer. I just don’t think that it’s very reasonable. All the previous articles written by “professional” journalists have said good things about BYU soccer and its improvement, but hasn’t been close to a playoff worthy team. Hopefully this year will rollover to next year when we might have improved. Just don’t talk about it prematurely.

Finally a Way to Continue Dancing after Marriage

When I got married I was quite disappointed to find out that my wife didn’t enjoy dancing. In fact, I almost didn’t get married because of it. Thankfully I made the right choice and I’m grateful that I decided to marry my fabolous wife. However, I still love to dance and wish that I could dance more. My wife has been really great doing some dancing dates and things to make me happy. However, I ran accross this article which could eleviate my wife from dancing forever:
Dancing Robot

What a great concept!! Although, on second thought I’m not sure what the robot would do when it sees my “trying” to dance. Plus, if I did lead wrong then it would definitely be my fault since the Robot just did what I told it to do. Not to mention I can’t imagine dancing close to a metal object. On second thought, the robots out and I’ll continue to dance with my wife in the house where she feels comfortable.

Great Audio Files on LDS.org

I was going to www.lds.org today so that I could read the latest ensign and espescially the First Presidency message. As I did so I was looking at what mp3 downloads I could do so that I could burn them to cd and listen to them in the car. I couldn’t believe how many great things the church had. There are a ton more things they could add to it, but there was a good start on things that I could listen to to make my commute to work more uplifting. It was so great. The book they had available in mp3 that blew me away was Jesus the Christ. What a fabolous book and all in audio format. Now I just have to figure out how many CD’s I’ll have to burn for the whole book. I guess I need to get an MP3 player in my car, because then I could burn the whole book probably whereas with just an audio CD I can only burn part. With conference I could burn one session of conference on an audio CD. With just burning them as MP3’s I could burn 3 whole conferences. What a difference.

Here’s the link to the site:
LDS Audio Files

You can also sign up for email updates when they add more audio files to it. I hope the church continues to do more with this.

I created this little excel spreadsheet to help us to do the basic gospel principles(Pray, Read Scriptures, Family Home Evening). We’ll see how it goes, but hopefully this will give us a little more motivation to do those things that should be so simple to us.

Solitaire Showdown Proof

Solitaire Showdown Champion

So, the other night I was playing my little sister accross the internet in a little game called solitaire showdown. It is a great game that comes built in with MSN Messenger. I must admit that my sister is a great player, but it was just not her night. She actually kicked my butt in the first few games, but after that I just swept her under the rug. Who would have thought that playing games on the internet could be so much fun?

At my work there are 2 pharmacists that are 75 and 82 years old. I am helping them learn a new Pharamacy program and during my interactions it has been so fun seeing them learn technology. One of them l0ves Minesweeper. I want to set him up on MSN messenger so we can play Minesweeper against each other. My little sister I think is afraid to play me in that game anymore since she could never beat me.
